Duckroost Seafood & Deli

Located at 13277 LA-431, St Amant, LA 70774, Duckroost Seafood & Deli is a charming local eatery offering a delightful array of seafood and deli dishes. Known for its fantastic food and exceptional service, this spot is a favorite for both dine-in patrons and those looking to take home some delicious boiled seafood.

One of the standout features of Duckroost is its selection of cracklings, including the popular chicken cracklings. Whether you're craving a crispy, savory snack or a hearty meal, these cracklings hit the spot. Additionally, the boudin balls come highly recommended, with many patrons praising their fresh and tasty flavor. While some may prefer boudin from other local spots, Duckroost’s version is always a satisfying choice when you're in the area.

The restaurant is small but efficient, nestled in a gas station area that also serves as a local market. Despite its modest size, Duckroost offers a cozy dining experience, perfect for a quick meal or a relaxing lunch break. On Tuesdays, the restaurant features a crawfish special that brings in regulars looking for a hearty serving of this Louisiana favorite. While the crawfish is considered second best in Ascension Parish, it’s still a flavorful treat that many return for.

If you prefer a more relaxed meal, the small dining area provides a comfortable place to enjoy your food. Don't forget to check out the nearby snowball shack for a sweet treat to cool down, especially on a warm day.

Duckroost Seafood & Deli continues to be a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike, offering quality food in a no-frills, welcoming setting.

Always good food, great service. You won't be disappointed if you're dining in or getting boiled seafood to go.

Fantastic cracklings including chicken cracklings. Boudin balls were good but I still prefer Billy's. Will definitely go back for the cracklings though.

Second best crawfish in Ascension from a market. It's a small little gas station area with lunch specials and Tuesday crawfish specials. I get my fill off the boudin balls when I don't want to drive to Tony's or Billy's by going here. Their tasty and fresh. The people are there to get you in and out which is fine with me. There is a little dining area if you decide you want to eat in and a snowball shack outside. Love this little place.

This place is a godsend! Apart from being your typical convenience store, they have a restaurant with dine-in and carry-out options. During the week they serve breakfast, and while I haven't personally been there for breakfast, I've only heard raving reviews; especially about the Shrimp & Grits. You can get a variety of boiled seafood here for decent prices. The crawfish are amazingly seasoned and good size - especially for now being toward the end of season. I heard rave reviews about the Royal Red Shrimp, so I ordered a pound. It set me back about $10, but it was absolutely worth it. To me, they seem more like prawn than shrimp, but at the end of the day they're delicious and semantics don't matter. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Quick tip: They keep kind of off hours and don't serve breakfast on weekends, so definitely check before driving over.

I have passed this place many times but have never stopped. I remember the old store and it was not my favorite place. Duck Roost was totally redone and very inviting. Keep in mind, this is a very country, down home kind of restaurant. I ordered the shrimp cocktail. It had 13 shrimp which were tasty but pretty ordinary. It came with a remoulade sauce. This dip had mustard seeds, pesto, and some other delicious component. It was VERY different than anything I've ever had but it was delicious. I also ordered a half order of alligator sauce piquant. Super delicious- it was served over a bead of fluffy white rice and a piece of garlic bread. This meal came with a 22 oz drink for 18 bucks. I left fully satisfied and didn't spend a fortune. I will totally be going back! The four stars is due to the lack of seating. There was a lot of people there and not a lot of tables.
